Forgiveness releases energy

DE Deutsch EN English

1. Be willing to forgive

Don't wait for the guilty party to come and say, "Forgive me," this will cost you unnecessary heartache. You who have become guilty, come quickly. Don't let the sun go down without forgiving one another.

Sometimes we wait a very, very long time. A good example is Jacob and Esau in the Old Testament, the Bible. Jacob fled. He had to serve for many years before he finally came to his senses and repented. What a wonderful encounter when he fell on his brother Esau's neck.

Bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.
Colossians 3:13-14 (ESV)

As believers we are admonished not to give the devil any room:

Now if anyone has caused pain, he has caused it not to me, but in some measure—not to put it too severely—to all of you.
2 Corinthians 2:5 (ESV)

Only as reconciled people do we have fellowship with one another and with Jesus Christ the Head. Only as reconciled do we have eternal security. After forgiveness, calm, peace, joy and contentment return to life.

2. God loves to forgive us

If we don't forgive, we go into eternity unreconciled. A pastor reports: I knew two brothers who had bitter arguments for years. They belonged to the same community and knew the same master, but they passed each other like strangers. One of them became deathly ill. He told me to ask his brother to come to his deathbed and be reconciled with him in the face of eternity. He said, “I can’t take it like this anymore.” I knew that the request would be met with resistance from the other person. But I wasn't prepared for that, it was too outrageous what he replied: "Tell my brother, I can take it for a long time!" I don't know how the man wants to be saved. (Hear a parable from book Mr. Schäfer)

3. Was sagt Gottes Wort:

Be angry and do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger,
Ephesians 4:26 (ESV)

Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you. Ephesians 4:32 (ESV)

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
1 John 1:9 (ESV)
