The bright morning star

By simple calculation, one can determine that we can perceive 100 billion stars through telescopes. Scientists do not yet know everything about the stars and the Milky Way. But God has always known the number of stars exactly, and He can count them.

He determines the number of the stars; he gives to all of them their names..
Psalm 147,:4 (ESV)

Questioning and full of awe, we looked up as children. A night sky with its shining stars is unmistakable. And under our feet was a glittering white blanket of snow. This beautiful memory remains.

1. A star in the far distance

Balaam, a son of Beor, was used by God as a prophet. He knew that the Lord wanted to bless Israel. He proclaimed God's Word clearly and truthfully. His face turned to the steppe. He turned his gaze to the Israelites who were encamped there according to the twelve tribes. He began his speech. He blessed the people of Israel with many good words.

Then a prediction, a prophetic word:

I see him, but not now; I behold him, but not near: a star shall come out of Jacob, and a scepter shall rise out of Israel;. Numbers 24:,17a (ESV)

This statement refers to Jesus. Another promise:

Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you. Isaiah 60:1 (ESV)

2. The big event

Jesus was born in Bethlehem. King Herod ruled in Jerusalem.  Surprisingly, he received a visit from some Magi. Your question was:

saying, “Where is he who has been born king of the Jews? For we saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.”.
Matthew 2:2 (ESV)

When King Herod heard this, he was dismayed. He called the priests and the scribes together and asked, "Where is this promised Savior to be born?" Her answer: In Bethlehem in Judea. This is what it says in the Book of the Prophets.

King Herod made another agreement with them. After this conversation, the wise men went to Bethlehem.

The same star they had observed when it rose in the sky was guiding them now. He stopped over the house where the child was. When they saw this, their joy knew no bounds. They entered the house where they found the child with his mother Mary, fell down before him and honored him like a king. They unpacked their treasures and gave the child gold, frankincense and myrrh. According to Matthew 2

3. Search and find

Nun: Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path..
Psalm 119:105 (ESV)

The experience of the Magi shows us how to find Jesus through their approach:

By
  • Hearing we learn that Jesus is the Son of God and Redeemer of the fallen world

  • Seeing: People who live according to God's commandments.

  • Informing : To search for yourself, what does God's Word say?

  • Asking: Lord, open my eyes, I want to see you. Lord, open your heart to me, I want to be yours.

  • Confessing Sins

  • Welcome Jesus in our hearts.

Jesus is the greatest treasure one can possess.

4. Jesus, the bright morning star
