Trusting in God
While I'm preparing for a sermon and ask myself, can you talk about it at all? Certain circumstances make me sad.
At this moment the phone rings: A person wishes me a happy new year and asks me for a Bible verse that he has received for himself from the Lord and does not know where it is:
„Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my salvation Psalm 42:6 (ESV)
This Bible verse is the right word for her and for me right now!
A strange calm fills me when I realize that the same wording of this verse is found three times in the Psalms! Once in chapter 42:6; then verse 12 and for the third time in chapter 43:5.
The year 2024 was a very difficult year worldwide. Fear and worries about the job. Will COVID affect me again? Can I continue my studies? What does the future hold?
It is good to know that we have a powerful God, to whom we can entrust ourselves completely. He knows our needs and difficulties, and knows what the future holds.
In a song by Hella Heizmann based on Psalm 91:11 it says:
1. Those who trust in God need not be afraid of the dreams of the night and loneliness. He can go into the new day with hope.
2. Those who trust in God may know that they are safe in the hands of love that hold them. He can see God's help with joy.
Chorus: I: For he has commanded his angels over you, that they should guard you, that they should protect you day and night.
In this sense, I wish a blessed year 2025 with Psalm 37:5
