Arrive at your destination on time

1. Arrive at your destination on time

Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own. Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.. Philippians 3:12-14 (ESV)

I had an appointment at a car dealership. But I was running late leaving home and had to take a detour. Will my navigation system guide me correctly? Will I arrive at the dealership on time? I prayed, and then the Lord spoke to me very clearly. He said: "Don't worry, I'll get you there on time." When we arrived at the dealership, the receptionist said, "Have a seat for a moment." The gentleman in charge of your office is on the phone. Time to read the Bible. Finally, he comes in. I want to learn to pay more attention to what God says.

2. Setting off, choosing our journey

First, we need to have a destination, then we can set off! Whether on foot, by car, by train, by ship, or by plane, we can travel abroad.

These are all undertakings we can undertake without God or with God.
Our goals can be very different. We still make the choice
of our journey. Jesus speaks of two paths with very different goals:

Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy[1] that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few. Matthew 7:13-14 (ESV)

To follow the broad path, one can indulge in any pleasure. Ouch, living a dissolute life, binge drinking, gluttony, etc. The path is paved with good intentions: self-realization courses are offered, esoteric courses, etc. Certainly, even on this seemingly easy path, people agree, but the destination makes the difference.

If we want to enter God's presence, we must take a decisively different direction. The door that leads to life is narrow, and the way there is narrow.

But God loves us so much that he gave his only Son, so that whoever believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. According to John 3:16

Peter writes:

The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance. 2.Peter 3:9 (ESV)

This shows us how valuable each individual is to God and how pleased he is when someone turns to him.

3. There will be great joy when you reach your destination

We are invited to follow Jesus faithfully. Upon reaching our destination, we will be lifted into the final presence of God and received into unimaginable glory.

We will be with the Lord forever and inseparably, rejoicing in fellowship with the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and with thousands of angels and all the redeemed.

Do you have the inner witness of being personally accepted by God through His Word and the Holy Spirit? Are you ready to encounter Jesus?

If not, then you may pray right now: Lord Jesus, grant me the inner witness that I am ready to encounter you!
