And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together.

1. Jesus Christ our model
Who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.
Philippians 2:6-8 (ESV)
For the sake of saving humanity, he gave up his divine existence temporarily. He humbled himself from the heights of his dominion to the earth. He did this voluntarily and not out of compulsion.
In his becoming human, he exchanged his state of glory, his divine form, for that of a servant. He lived in complete dependence on his Father.
“I can do nothing on my own. As I hear, I judge, and my judgment is just, because I seek not my own will but the will of him who sent me. John 5:30 (ESV)
Even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Matthew 20:28 (ESV)
2. Jesus' Mission and Work
Jesus' words on the cross: 'It is finished' point to a great work with which Jesus is commissioned by his Father. To carry out this commission, acting as a mediator for the divine purpose, to bring salvation to humanity. In this, he sees the meaning and content of his life.
God's goal is to close the disastrous rift that arose from man's rebellion against his Creator in Paradise.
3. Jesus' Proclamation
