Wells with and without water

DE Deutsch EN English

The year 2023, the past few months have been very different. Our climatic conditions, the week-long high of over 35 degrees, had a major impact on nature, people and animals. Lack of water, financial losses, do's and don'ts: without water there is no life.

1. What does God's Word tell us?

Isaac son of Abraham went to Philistine land. King Abimelech reigned there. A famine was the reason to leave his country.

Isaac sowed in this land and reaped a hundredfold.

A blessed of the Lord. He got rich, very rich. He had flocks of sheep, herds of cattle, and a large body of servants.

The Philistines envied him. Envy, resentment, jealousy had their consequences:

It was:

  • Added damage
  • wronged
  • separation completed

The Philistines acted. All the wells that his father Abraham's servants had dug, they stopped and filled up with earth. There was no more water.

King Abimelech said to Isaac: Get away from us, you have become too powerful for us.

2. How does Isaac respond?

So Isaac left from there and camped in the valley of Gerar and stayed there. He uncovered the wells that the Philistines had plugged up with his servants, which was hard work. A well was about 20 meters deep and mostly lined inside. Isaac gave the well the name his father had given them. The water could flow again. As much as you need, be drawn.

According to Genesis 26:6-18

3. The fountain of living water fills the greatest need

There is natural water.

There is the living water. An item from above. Jesus Christ is the source of living water.

Jesus said to her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” The woman said to him, “Sir, give me this water, so that I will not be thirsty or have to come here to draw water.”  John  4:,13-15 (ESV)

I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.
John 10:10b (ESV)

4. Good advice

Put away from you crooked speech, and put devious talk far from you.
Proverbs 4:24 (ESV)

The water of life should flow freely through us. Do not absorb, accept or do anything that will dry up the water of life within us.

Example: Mishandling of relationships.

The wide range of media offers incentives: For example: films that lead to evil
and porn movies.

A woman married two children, started surfing the Internet. Contact was made with a strange man. First just play, then the first meeting. One day the mother-in-law got her two small grandchildren brought into the apartment and the mother left her family. That was a sad decision.

5. We have a great privilege

His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence.
2 Peter 1:3 (ESV)

The Spirit and the Bride say, “Come.” And let the one who hears say, “Come.” And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who desires take the water of life without price.  Revelation 22:17 (ESV)

The Question: Are we connected to the Living Source?

If not, then ask Jesus: Lord give me this water!
