Gods call and presence
It was 2002, while I was walking in a forest, when God's call came to me, it was just a sentence! It is about a task in the kingdom of God that I will still have to tackle in retirement. I'm not sure if the Lord still expects me to do this job. That's why I stay in prayer while walking. The answer comes as clearly as I did not expect it. 1000 words of a scholar cannot express what the Lord clearly expresses in one sentence. Until the end of my life, it is clear to me what the Lord expects of me.
Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. James 4,8a (ESV)
The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. He fulfills the desire of those who fear him; he also hears their cry and saves them.
Psalm 145:18-19 (ESV)
Psalm 145:18-19 (ESV)
In the Old Testament, God often spoke through prophets. Today he wants to draw near to us as we contemplate God's Word. God knows our names and knows our respective whereabouts. He knows what we plan, think and feel. He can see through the thick walls and ceiling. He sees us in times of need and when we are doing well! He also knows whether we are faithful to him. Or follow him from afar!
But Jesus on his part did not entrust himself to them, because he knew all people
and needed no one to bear witness about man, for he himself knew what was in man. John: 2:24-25 (ESV)
First, it shows that we can't hide from him - or pretend to him. And secondly, it shows that he cares about each individual personally, whether young or old.
When God called Moses out of the burning bush, He said, Yes, Lord!
When the Lord saw that he turned aside to see, God called to him out of the bush, “Moses, Moses!” And he said, “Here I am.” Exodus 3:4 (ESV)
Can you also say in all things: Yes, Lord! How many times does the Lord have to call us before we finally follow Him? Has he already called you by name? Can you think of a specific place where and how you encountered it?
2. He is our God
2. He is our God
- I am "your God" See Exodus 3:14
- He is the Almighty God. See Exodus 6:3.
- In Psalm 102:13 He is the eternal Lord,
- his memory ranges from generation to generation.
- In Malachi 3:6, He is the Lord who has not changed.
3. God's Call and Saving Intention in the New Testament
He sent Jesus to be in our midst.
I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. John 10:10b (ESV)
He doesn't want anyone to get lost:
In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace. Ephesians 1:7 (ESV)
In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace. Ephesians 1:7 (ESV)
I wish everyone a real experience of God, so that our whole future is aligned with Him.
The Lord has also promised us His presence: Even in the smallest community, where we are together in His name, HE is there!
Our journey of faith – may be difficult. If we remain faithful to the end, the reward will not be missing.
For the Lord will lead us into a good and great land. Into the eternal kingdom of God. Do you believe that too?
