1. Jesus ascended to heaven

This fact was witnessed by his apostles who were eyewitnesses. They saw him being carried in a cloud from the visible world of space and time, from the world in which we live, into heaven, into the reality of God.

And when he had said these things, as they were looking on, he was lifted up, and a cloud took him out of their sight.  Acts 1:9 (ESV)

When the steamer carrying President Roosevelt from a trip to Africa sailed into New York Harbor, there was a triumphant musical reception with Marines and elegantly dressed maids of honor. The President's homecoming had to be duly celebrated! An elderly missionary who had completed his service in the overseas field also returned home on the same ship. A small group of Christian believers pushed their way through the crowd to welcome the missionary. “We very much regret not giving you a reception like that given to President Roosevelt.” Don't worry about it, cried the missionary, pointing to the sky with his hand. “I haven’t arrived yet.” (Joel Predre)

2. Triumphant Entry

Jesus' first coming as a baby was accompanied by the rejoicing of the angelic hosts. How much more will his return into glory be filled with the sound of joy.

Lift up your heads, O gates! And be lifted up, O ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. Psalm 24:7 (ESV)

Jesus' entry was the greatest triumphal entry. He conquered the world.

Concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged.. John 16:11 (ESV)

Death is also defeated by Him, who wanted to keep him in the grave as prey.

“O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?”
1 Corinthians 15:55 (ESV)

3. Believers in Christ and the coming Lord

When Jesus ascended to heaven, the disciples watched him until he was enveloped in clouds. But they were greatly comforted: two men clothed in white said to them,

This Jesus will come again, just as you saw him ascend to heaven.

And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.. John 14:3 (ESV)

Our goal is the Golden City built by God, which Abraham was looking for.

For he was looking forward to the city that has foundations, whose designer and builder is God. Hebrews 11:10 (ESV)

Do you have the inner witness of being personally accepted by God through His Word and through the Holy Spirit? Are you ready when Jesus returns?

If not, then you can pray right now: "Lord Jesus give me the inner witness that I am ready when you come again! Any day, any hour, any minute the pickup could take place. The signs of the times indicate that it could still be today."
