A brilliant miracle of creation
Deutsch English
A lot of things are made clear to us humans through comparisons, parables, pictures and stories.
1. What the butterfly teaches us
It is reported that there are over 100,000 species of butterflies. The flying ABC explores the top and bottom on its wings. It seems that God wants to present the plan of his love in these delicate creatures in a wonderful illustration.
2. The butterfly egg
The females lay their eggs where the most favorable conditions are found. The eggs are completely different: in shapes, colors and sizes. The egg is the size of a pin and can withstand temperatures down to minus 60 degrees.
3. The caterpillar
Once the caterpillar has finished developing, it emerges from the egg. She eats twice her body weight in 24 hours. It eats, digests and gathers new strength. Further developments include the caterpillar molting. The caterpillar sheds its skin every eight to ten days. She gets new skin, new hair, new feet and a new head.
This happens five times. After these processes, the caterpillar stops eating. Then she looks for a place where she can hide.
4. Pupation of the caterpillar
The caterpillar becomes smaller and the body circumference swells slightly. She wraps herself in delicate threads. The secret is not visible from the outside. Suddenly the skin on the neck tears open and the doll appears. The skin falls off over the back.
5. The transformation
In the chrysalis, the caterpillar's body completely dissolves. The moving moment in the butterfly's development is its transformation and its appearance as a complete being.
Once this process is complete, the butterfly is ready to hatch. The doll's skin becomes thinner and thinner. Now it is time. The butterfly fights its way free. He rests until his wings are dry. He opens his wings and flies towards the sun. He sits down on a flower and tastes its nectar and thus begins his new existence.
6. Transformation – new creation
This process is a comparison for us humans. We too can experience transformation. It seems that in this extraordinary process God is making us understand the developments. Completely hidden, new life is created.
7. What does this mean for us humans?
God's Word clarifies. Nicodemus, an upper class Pharisee, came to Jesus at night. He said to him: Rabbi, we know that God has sent you as a teacher, for no one can do the miracles that you perform. To this Jesus replied: I assure you, Nicodemus, whoever is not born again cannot see or experience the kingdom of God. Nicodemus had other questions. Jesus replied, “I assure you” only those who are born again by water and by God’s Spirit can enter God’s kingdom. But whoever is born of the Spirit receives new life. According to John 3
The new birth is an act of creation of the Holy Spirit. It's a matter of the heart. We have to open our hearts. When we hear, believe and accept the Word of God, the miracle of rebirth from water and the Spirit occurs. As a result, we are a new creation and are born again.
The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God
Romans 8:16 (ESV)
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation.[2] The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.
2 Corinthians 5:17 (ESV)
The time without God is a thing of the past. Now a new life in freedom begins. We don't have to sin anymore.
The butterfly feeds on nectar and we humans feed on the Word of God and the Bread of Life.
For it is no empty word for you, but your very life.
Deuteronomy 32:47 a (ESV)
Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.
John 6:35 (ESV)
