What nature teaches us

DE Deutsch EN English

One day a pious Jew stood in the courtyard of the temple. He liked being there. Here he received new strength for everyday life. When he raised his eyes, he saw some sparrows and swallows nesting in the masonry.

Blessed are those who dwell in your house, ever singing your praise!
Psalm 84:4 (ESV)

1. Time of animals

The animals know their time. Man has his time. All migratory birds adhere to the times I have set for them. The stork, the pigeon, swallows and thrush.

Even the stork in the heavens knows her times, and the turtledove, swallow, and crane keep the time of their coming, but my people know not the rules of the Lord. Jeremiah 8:7 (ESV)

Birds can be seen everywhere. They can fly, run, swim, dive, whistle, chirp and much more.

The migratory birds know, remember and know their time. They are created with an instinct: impulse, natural instinct and innate ability. They live according to the rules determined for them.

The Swallows. In summer, whether during the day or in the evening, we see the swallows scurrying in restless flight over houses, flying around church towers or gliding along watercourses.

2. Departure for summer quarters

On a beautiful September morning, certain species of birds gather and perch in long rows on the telephone lines, as if waiting for some sign. Some behave restlessly, stragglers join the group and the air is filled with their chirping.

Suddenly the whole flock rises into the air, turns south with loud flaps of wings and disappears into the blue sky. From Europe to Africa at a time when a season corresponding to our spring begins there.

They share the food with African bird species until another migratory disturbance occurs in the first days of March, which initiates the migration home to Europe, where they settle again at their old breeding grounds that they built the previous year.

Why do the birds move back and forth? Their food is insects. As autumn approaches, the number of insects decreases. When winter cold sets in, there is no longer any food for them. That means: live or die.

God created birds for man's joy in praising God. Now the animals fulfill their destiny!

Beasts and all livestock, creeping things and flying birds!
Psalm 148:10 (ESV)

3. What about us humans?

We should notice what is happening around us, we should learn. God did not give us an instinct to control our lives. We have mind, will, feeling, body, soul and spirit.

He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, he has put eternity into man’s heart, yet so that he cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end. Ecclesiastes 3:11 (ESV)

Man is placed above animals, but how does he react?

How do we manage our time?

  • Teach us that we must die in order to become wise.
  • We should buy out the time
  • Don't waste your time on trivialities#
  • In God's Word we read how we can spend time sensibly
  • We need to know what God's Word says and what His will is
  • We should hear, read and act on God's Word#
  • We are to spend our lives in fellowship with believers
Unlike birds, humans live on after death. Where do you want to spend your future?
